Presbyterian School of Christian Education in Richmond, Virginia.
Prior to his 11-year tenure as University Chaplain at Hampton University, Dr. Boddie was Assistant Professor in the University's Department of English, where he taught for 17 years. His commitment to excellence in education and ministry is attributable to his multiple gifts as a preacher, teacher, author, and administrator. These gifts have afforded him the opportunity of compiling and editing a book titled Wisdom of the Sages: A Collection of Conversations from the ACD Vaughn Senior Statesmen Hour at the Hampton University Ministers' Conference (published by UMI of Chicago, 2007) and the privilege of speaking in a variety of venues, including churches, colleges, universities, and civic halls throughout the country.
Named for two noted preachers--the late Dr. J. Timothy Boddie of Baltimore, Maryland, and Dr. Wyatt Tee Walker of New York, New York-Dr. Boddie could not escape his pre-ordained destiny for the awesome call to ministry. A fourth-generation Baptist preacher, he worked for six years as Associate Minister of the First Church of Newport News (Baptist), where his parents, the late Dr. Fred J. Boddie, Jr. and Mrs. Patricia J Boddie, were pastor and first lady, respectively, for nearly 40 years. He also served as associate minister at First Baptist Church of Hampton, Virginia, and became Senior Pastor of historic Friendship Baptist Church, Atlanta, Georgia, on June 15, 2008.
Dr. Boddie is joyously married to Geulia (pronounced Julia) Diggs Boddie, a native of Franklin, Virginia, and a magna cum laude graduate of both Fisk and Hampton Universities. They are the proud and blessed parents of two children, Maya Jillian and Timothy Michael.".
